Violation Description: 

American Electric Power and its subsidiary AEPES agreed to pay $30 million to resolve CFTC allegations that they repeatedly and deliberately reported false natural gas trading information, including price and volume information, to certain firms that compile natural gas price indexes. The complaint further alleged that AEP and AEPES knowingly delivered false information to price index compilers in an attempt to skew those indexes for their financial benefit.
