Violation Description: Six major producers of bulk vitamins agreed to pay $242 million to settle litigation alleging they engaged in a price-fixing conspiracy. Court documents did not indicate how much each company would pay. One of the six--Hoffmann-LaRoche--had agreed to pay about 54 percent of the initial settlement of $1.1 billion, which was reduced when some of the large plaintiffs decided to withdraw from the agreement. We assume here its share of the revised settlement was a similar percentage. When then assume the other defendants each paid an equal share of the remaining amount.
